Nationals mascot misses popup, broadcasters don't let him off easy

Mascots have a hard lot in life. While the actual players just have to run around and play catch with each other or whatever, mascots have to wear enormous suits, entertain the crowd, fire hot dogs into the crowdhelp guard the President and make a few plays when the time calls for it. 

So there's a lot of responsibility heaped on those enormous, comical shoulders. On Thursday night, after missing a popped up bunt, Screech, the Nationals eagle-ish mascot, was close to having a coronary:

Did the broadcasters show concern? Was help on the way? Absolutely not. Because "if you can't make that play, you really shouldn't be a mascot."
