'Rookie of the Year' actor throws out first pitch
Rookie of the Year is a classic in the child-wish-fulfillment subgenre of sports movies. In the film, Henry Rowengartner (played by actor Thomas Ian Nicholas) learns that his broken arm has healed unusually well, giving him the ability to pitch with an insane amount of power and earning him a spot on the Cubs.
Nicholas was on hand at Wrigley Field on Saturday to toss out the ceremonial first pitch, and Cubs fans were excited to see their fictional ROY toe the rubber:
It seems like the later years took a bit of a toll on Rowengartner's mechanics, but hey -- he's been pitching since he was twelve. That's a lot of innings.
