Japanese Hall of Famer Yutaka Fukumoto's first pitch was just a bit upstairs

Japanese HOFer's first pitch just a bit high

Yutaka Fukumoto spent 20 seasons in the Nippon Professional Baseball league as a center fielder with the Hankyu Braves (now the Orix Buffaloes), racking up over 2,500 hits, 200 home runs and 1,000 stolen bases. A prototypical leadoff hitter, Fukumoto earned induction to the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 2002.

He was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Wednesday at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, just before the official start of the Japan Series, and wound up tossing in something of an eephus:

But hey -- when you hold the Japanese records for stolen bases, doubles and triples, no one's expecting an 89 mph heater.
