Matt Szczur makes diving catch for the last out of a Minor League no-hitter

Matt Szczur makes diving catch to save no-hitter

It seems like every no-hitter requires a few dramatic defensive plays to keep it intact. Rarely does one of those plays come on the last play of the game, but that's what happened on Wednesday.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Chris Rusin of the Iowa Cubs faced Josh Rodriguez of the New Orleans Zephyrs, one out shy of a no-no. Rodriguez hit a soft pop fly to the Bermuda Triangle of open outfield space between the shortstop, second baseman and center fielder, and the no-hitter was looking mighty shaky. Fortunately for Rusin, Matt Szczur was there to make a diving catch to end the game.

For Rusin, who has one appearance with the big league club this year, the no-hitter could earn him another call-up later this season. And if it does, Szczur should expect to be on the receiving end of an extravagant steak dinner.
