Omar Infante runs through stop sign, dodges third-base coach en route to home plate

Omar Infante scores after dodging third-base coach

The Royals already had a big lead over the Giants going into the fifth inning of World Series Game 6, but that didn't mean they were through scoring runs. After Omar Infante singled to lead off the frame, Alcides Escobar knocked a double into left field, advancing Infante to third.

Well, at least that was Royals third-base coach Mike Jirschele's plan. Infante had one thing on his mind after rounding third base: home plate. Unfortunately, Jirschele didn't get the memo and had to run some evasive maneuvers to avoid crashing into the speeding baserunner:

Infante, for his part, actually ran on the outside of his third-base coach which, while unconventional, allowed him to avoid Giants catcher Buster Posey's tag coming in at the last second:

All in all, a nifty bit of baserunning from Infante -- and something you certainly don't see every day. The fact that it increased the Royals' lead to 9-0 was just a bit of whipped cream on the pumpkin pie. That's how that idiom goes, right?
