Brandon Belt should know that we want to rename him 'Brandon Bunt' after Game 5

Brandon Belt earns new name in Game 5: Brandon Bunt

Consider this our petition to rename Brandon Belt "Brandon Bunt" after World Series Game 5 Sunday.

The Giants first baseman put down an expert bunt against the Royals' infield shift in the second inning, sending Hunter Pence to second base and just making it safe at first.

In a postseason overflowing with bunts, Belt's was a beauty. And not only was the bunt executed like a true bunt master, but Belt had to seriously book it to first to beat the throw from Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar. We're talking 90 feet of max speed approaching 20 mph.

Belt wouldn't cross home plate that inning, but Pence scored the first run of the game -- a lead the Giants never relinquished -- and Belt's bunt helped get him there.

Belt bunt, bunt Belt. For carrying on the grand 2014 postseason tradition of All Bunts Everything, we officially rechristen him Brandon Bunt. Let his name ring from every well-placed bunt in all the land.
