Happy birthday to Fernando Tatis, who once hit two grand slams in a single inning
Tatis had a solid 11-year big league career, posting a career slash line of .265/.344/.442 for the Rangers, Cardinals, Expos, Orioles and Mets. But he's best known for the feat he performed on April 23, 1999, hitting two grand slams in the same inning against the Dodgers.
Not only is that the only time in MLB history that's happened, but his eight RBIs in an inning is also an all-time record. You can witness his singular achievement (as well as the exquisite '90s-ness of his bleached-blonde hair streak) above. Happy 40th, Fernando.
This post was originially published Jan. 1, 2014 to celebrate Tatis' 39th birthday.
