When you really think about it, there are quite a few similarities between the skills necessary to be a great baseball player and the skills necessary to be a Harlem Globetrotter -- creativity, calmness under pressure, showmanship on the field:
But we aren't the first people to recognize this -- just last year, the Globetrotters drafted Yankees closer Mariano Rivera to their club.
And on Thursday, Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia and Globetrotters Bull Bullard and Flight Time Lang decided to meet up to conduct a small clinic for one another, sharing a few tricks of the trade between them.
Clearly, they were hoping their new skills might translate to on-field/on-court success and, judging by the video, it seems like they might.
It certainly looks like learning the Globetrotters' secret to spin has made Mejia's stuff that much more unhittable.
