23 years ago, Moises Alou hit his first grand slam
There were a lot of layers to Moises Alou's home run on Sept. 23, 1992, against the Pirates.
First, it was a grand slam. Second, it was a walk-off, giving the Expos a 5-1 win. Third, it came in the 14th inning, after the two teams had gone scoreless through nine innings and each scored one run in the 10th, with Alou scoring for the Expos. Fourth, though Alou had debuted in 1990, he only had 40 at-bats heading into the '92 season, so he was still technically a rookie. Fifth, it was Alou's first career grand slam. Sixth, it was also Alou's first career walk-off home run. Seventh, he did all of this while playing for his father Felipe, who replaced Tom Runnells as manager partway through the season.
