We mustache you a question: Is Jake Arrieta's beard the only thing better than his curveball?

What's better: Jake Arrieta's beard or his curveball?

Hi there. How are you? Can I have a minute of your time to talk about the incredible work of art growing from the face of Cubs starting pitcher Jake Arrieta?

Last season, Arrieta was one of baseball's most improved pitchers. He set career bests in IP, ERA, WHIP, SO, ERA+ and FIP on his way to a 10-5 record and ninth-place finish in the NL Cy Young race. And if you thought that was a fluke, his first start of 2015 was a seven-strikeout, three-hit gem against the NL Central rival Cardinals.

Somehow even more impressive is his facial hair game, which is top-notch this spring. In 2014, Arrieta rocked a tightly groomed beard that was kept in check throughout the season. Now, he's got the makings of a handlebar mustache to go with much thicker face shrub.

For those of you keeping score at home, it registers as a 7.6 on a scale of Hank from Breaking Bad to Tom Hanks at the end of Castaway.

Another few weeks of TLC and Arrieta's gonna look like he took Rollie Fingers' stache and Bruce Sutter's beard.
