Whether he makes the Hall of Fame or not, Dale Murphy is more than a hero to his artist son

Dale Murphy is on this year's Hall of Fame ballot for the 15th and final time. He needs 75 percent of the vote to gain induction, which isn't terribly likely since he received just 14.5 percent last year. The famously humble Murphy hasn't campaigned for the honor while several of his eight children have.

There are arguments everywhere for or against Murphy's Hall candidacy relying on statistics or the context of his performance for Atlanta in the '80s. But Murphy's son, Tyson, the self-described "black sheep" of the family, took to his tumblr with a moving cartoon he drew in tribute to his dad.

Tyson followed a very different career path from his father: He works as a character artist for Blizzard Entertainment (the company behind World of Warcraft). "Most people are surprised to hear that my artistic side was actually fostered and encouraged by my Dad," Tyson wrote. "I don’t know if he’ll get in the Hall, but … it really doesn’t matter to me."

Knowing what a good father and person away from the field Murphy was, it's hard to argue with that sentiment.
