The Decision: Which MLB team should LeBron James sign with?

What if LeBron chose to sign with MLB?

There are a lot of rumors out there about the free agency of four-time NBA MVP LeBron James. It's hard to tell which ones are legit, but they all are based on the fact that LeBron would fit in well with pretty much any NBA team.

But, that's not just true of the NBA -- King James would fit in on any team, MLB clubs included. Here are some reasons why he'd be the perfect addition to your favorite squad:

Astros

The shortest active player in the NBA is Nuggets guard Nate Robinson. This is what he looks like standing next to LeBron James:

Yet, Robinson is three inches taller than Astros second baseman Jose Altuve, meaning should LeBron join up with the 'Stros, he and Altuve would immediately become the most lovable tandem in sports.

Athletics

If LeBron is really serious about finding a team that will give him the best chance at winning another ring, the Athletics are probably that team. They currently have the best record in baseball, and show no signs of slowing down. Also, it'd make Jonah Hill happy:

Blue Jays

All of the NBA rumors swarm around the next "Big 3" for LeBron. Should he join up with the Cavaliers, the Big 3 would be him, Kyrie Irving and Andrew Wiggins. Should he choose Los Angeles, it'd be him, Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony (in theory). If he were to stay in Miami, it would remain him, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. Of course, should he choose the Blue Jays, LeBron would form an even more fearsome Big 3, consisting of Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, and the King.

Braves

This one would be a relatively simple transition for LeBron, fan-wise. He's used to his supporters chanting things in unison, so moving from Miami's love of the White Stripes to Atlanta's penchant for a certain chopping motion would be very smooth.

Brewers

Carlos Gomez is an insanely good baseball player, and he doesn't ever try to hide that fact. He's gotten in multiple fights for enjoying his own home runs too much, and even says hitting cleanup makes him feel "sexy." LeBron is no stranger to celebrating his own great performances, and so while these two might start more rhubarbs than your average MLB duo, they'd sure look cool doing it.

Cardinals

Yadier Molina is widely regarded as one of the smartest players in the game, and a guy whose talent truly makes his teammates play better. It's not always easily definable by statistics, but he has value that exists beyond what numbers capture. That's basically what Bron Bron does on the basketball court, and pairing them up would have the Cards truly be greater than the sum of their parts.

Cubs

Like James' hometown Cavaliers, the Cubs have waited for a superstar to deliver a title seemingly since the beginning of time. We're pretty sure that if LeBron helped win a World Series for the Cubs, he'd be given Chicago's equivalent of Sainthood -- free hot dogs and pizza for life.

D-backs

While James has won two titles with the Miami Heat, he's never won anywhere but South Beach. If he truly is considering a move, why not join up with someone who has crested the mountain with two separate teams: Tony La Russa. The D-backs Chief Baseball Officer has won rings in Oakland and in St. Louis, and if anyone could help LeBron get his coveted third championship, it's him.

Dodgers

LeBron shouldn't join the Dodgers. You see, he and Yasiel Puig on a team together would just break the internet. There'd be all kinds of crazy GIFs and insane plays and I just don't think we could handle it. Seriously, it's better off not happening.

Giants

The Giants, on the other hand, would be a great fit: "In this summer, and man, this is very tough, in this summer, I'm going to take my talents to McCovey Cove and join the San Francisco Giants." See? It sounds great. And, believe it or not, AT&T Park is located in the South Beach neighborhood of San Francisco, so maybe it was meant to be.

Indians

Who doesn't love a homecoming? As an added benefit, Indians manager Terry Francona also managed Michael Jordan during his season in minor league baseball, so you know he's got experience with NBA champions. Plus, James already has the uniform:

Mariners

If LeBron were to sign with the Mariners, it would become immediately apparent that this conversation with Jay Z during the NBA playoffs was almost entirely about uniting James and Robinson Cano in Seattle:

Marlins

After bringing two NBA championships to the Miami area, it's time for LeBron to bring another World Series title there too. He and Giancarlo Stanton would make an absolutely terrifying duo for opposing pitchers.

Mets

Mets star David Wright put Team USA on his back during the 2013 World Baseball Classic, earning himself the nickname "Captain America." LeBron did the same during the 2012 Summer Olympics, earning his squad a gold medal. Put the two on the same team, and that's about as American as:

Nationals

LeBron's biggest rival, Kevin Durant, is from the Washington D.C. area and even has a Nationals tattoo on his stomach. What better way to get in Durant's head than to suit up for his hometown baseball team?

Orioles

Padres

If LeBron were to sign with the Padres, he'd have an interesting dilemma: His current jersey number, No. 6, was retired by the organization in honor of Steve Garvey. Before wearing No. 6, the Akron native wore No. 23, in honor of Michael Jordan. That number, however, is taken by first baseman Yonder Alonso. Even Jordan's baseball number, No. 45, is already claimed by pitcher Jesse Hahn. The only thing more fun than a Summer of LeBron would be a Summer of LeBron Choosing a Uniform Number.

Phillies

Apparently, LeBron James owns a Donovan McNabb Eagles jersey. Imagine him wearing that jersey on his way into Citizens Bank Park, all while doing some sort of secret handshake with Chase Utley. The only things missing are Rocky and Will Smith chomping a cheesesteak.

Pirates

LeBron James has the ability to dominate defensively -- that's one of the reasons his hand now has two rings on it. Slotting him in an outfield rotation with Andrew McCutchen, Gregory Polanco and Starling Marte would probably give the Bucs the best defense in baseball. Plus, Cutch has some excellent dance moves of his own:

Rangers

LeBron is a huge Cowboys fan, so it would make sense for him to look at a team that plays yards away from AT&T Stadium. We'd say he could also suit up for them too, but he doesn't seem to fully understand the rules of that sport:

Rays

Let's assume LeBron wants to leave the Heat, but doesn't want to go too far. In such a situation, the Rays would be a happy medium. After all, if they're going to trade David Price, they could do a lot worse than getting LeBron in return. Plus, it'd give us a chance to see the ever-talented Price try his hand at basketball.

Red Sox

LeBron James is actually a co-owner of Liverpool Football Club along with Red Sox owner John Henry, and he's even involved with Henry's Fenway Sports Group. Thus, a move to the Red Sox would make quite a bit of business sense for LeBron who is, above all else, a very astute businessman.

Reds

Joey Votto is beloved by the advanced stats community because of his relentless, unweilding ability to get on base. He doesn't swing at pitches he can't hit, he knows what his strengths and weakness are and he's not afraid to draw a walk. LeBron James is similar -- he doesn't shoot shots he knows he can't make, but when he does choose to pull the trigger, he's dominant. Both sometimes get unfair criticism for not being assertive enough, so we think pairing them together would give them each some emotional support.

Rockies

Let's assume for a second that LeBron's powerful NBA game would translate to a powerful swing in MLB. Why not play in the best stadium for home runs? In fact, why not go all out and get the Rockies to shut down the humidor and turn Coors Field into a permanent home run derby? If it comes down to who has the most power hitters, CarGo, Tulo and Bron would be tough to top.

Royals

Bo Jackson, one of the biggest two-sport stars in history, made his MLB name with the Royals, so it would be quite fitting for LeBron to follow in his (large) footsteps -- possibly even up the outfield wall:

BoJackson.gif

Tigers

Justin Verlander's car collection is something to behold. He has all kinds of makes and models of some of the most luxurious machines available. Meanwhile, LeBron famously rides his bike to the arena in Miami. If King James were to sign with the Tigers, not only would he put himself squarely in the MLB playoff chase, he'd be able to carpool in style.

Twins

The Twins would be the perfect landing spot for LeBron, because at long last, he'd be surrounded by individuals who are as uniquely talented as he is:

White Sox

Wouldn't you know it, this was the team with which MJ attempted his own baseball career. We know people love comparing LeBron and Michael Jordan, and James joining the White Sox would be the perfect way to do it. All he'd have to do is advance beyond Double-A to end the debate:
