Did you know that the player who led the American League in hits in 2018 also led the league in stolen bases? In fact, it was actually the second straight AL stolen-base title for speedy Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield, who has suddenly emerged as one of the most dynamic players in baseball -- which is why Kansas City has reportedly decided to reward him with a four-year extension.
But the Royals aren't just investing in a standout player. They're also investing in a fascinating person, and one of the best Instagram accounts in the game. The 30-year-old Merrifield has been entertaining his fans on social media for years, long before he evolved into an All-Star-level talent on the field.
