One of the best players in the AL also has one of the best Instagrams in baseball

Whit Merrifield has a great Instagram

Did you know that the player who led the American League in hits in 2018 also led the league in stolen bases? In fact, it was actually the second straight AL stolen-base title for speedy Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield, who has suddenly emerged as one of the most dynamic players in baseball -- which is why Kansas City has reportedly decided to reward him with a four-year extension.

But the Royals aren't just investing in a standout player. They're also investing in a fascinating person, and one of the best Instagram accounts in the game. The 30-year-old Merrifield has been entertaining his fans on social media for years, long before he evolved into an All-Star-level talent on the field. His wide-ranging Instagram has an amusing grab bag of everything you could want from a professional athlete, from celebrity sightings to adorable childhood photos.

If you want golf-baseball trick shots going horribly wrong, Merrifield is your man:

He's also never shy about sharing some funny photos from his youth:

We may not have a photo of Merrifield at the 1989 All-Star Game when Bo Jackson hit one of his most legendary home runs, but apparently baby Whit was in attendance -- and was quite overwhelmed by the spectacle of Bo:

I cried when I witnessed Bo's greatness

Sometimes you see weird things when you're driving around. Merrifield is no different:

I don't really know what this is but I need one!!

Merrifield has also found other ways to stay entertained on the road -- especially during his time in the Minors on long bus rides:

Merrifield's dad, Bill, played college baseball at Wake Forest before six years in the Minors, primarily with the Angels. Some say they look a bit similar.

Do we look that much alike? I don't really see it

And what's a good Instagram without a celebrity run-in?

Oh, and by the way: He's pretty good on Twitter too.

And he's always there for his teammates, especially when they're going for a perfect game:

Yeah, you should probably follow our friend Whit.
