Three runs score on an endlessly entertaining wild pitch at Under Armour game

Three runs score on wild pitch at Under Armour game

Forty of the most talented and highly anticipated prep prospects gathered in Wrigley Field on Saturday afternoon for the 2015 Under Armour All-America game. Those players included the wonderfully named outfielder Seth Beer, who is committed to Clemson University, and Bo Bichette, the son of former slugger Dante Bichette, among the three-dozen other future top Draft picks.

But even amazing athletes are powerless when the chaos engine that runs this existence decides to kick in. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning, pitcher Brendan Heiss threw a wild pitch behind Bo Bichette that went to the backstop.

With the ball apparently greased up like it was a pig at a county fair, the catcher, Thomas Dillard, overthrew Heiss covering home as the first run scored. The first baseman, Joey Wentz, then ran in and, while diving/slipping, threw past Heiss covering the plate. As the ball bounded away again, this tragically heroic hurler tried to corral the ball before it slipped out of his hands again and the third run came in.

If that sounds confusing, just watch the beautiful video below and imagine Chris Berman narrating this whole thing:

But don't think that this is something that just happens on the amateur level. Honest-to-God professionals had the same plight happen to them just one year ago when the Brewers scored three runs against the Rockies on an eerily similar play

But now, dear readers, the real battle. Which one was better:
