Yankees draft Mariano Rivera's son, Mariano Rivera III

Yankees draft Mariano Rivera's son

If you've missed seeing Mariano Rivera come out of the Yankees bullpen, your prayers have been answered. In the 29th round of the 2014 MLB Draft, the Yankees selected a certain RHP pitcher: Mariano Rivera III. No word on if the team played "Enter Sandman" when they made the selection.

Rivera, a junior at Iona with a 92 mph fastball, went 2-6 this past season with a 5.40 ERA and a team-leading 50 strikeouts in 70 innings pitched.

But don't worry about the numbers. After all, not only has the younger Rivera not yet added a cutter to his arsenal, but his father struggled to a 5.51 ERA in his first season. You know, before saving those 652 ballgames.
