Yankees kick off HOPE Week with Flying Manes
Monday began the Yankees’ fourth annual HOPE Week (Helping Others Persevere & Excel). Each day, the club will reach out to an individual, family or organization worthy of recognition and support.
Stefanie and Bricklin Dwyer started Flying Manes Therapeutic Riding in 2009. The group provides equine-assisted activities for individuals in the New York metropolitan area who face physical, cognitive or emotional challenges.
HOPE Week kicked off with Mark Teixeira, Eric Chavez, Jayson Nix and pitching coach Larry Rothschild surprising the children of Flying Manes during one of their riding lessons. The children were then invited to Yankee Stadium where they got to meet Derek Jeter and Joe Girardi before going onto the field prior to the game.
