Back in May, Slade Heathcott played six games with the Yankees in which he did things like this:
Heathcott is currently in Triple-A with the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders working his way back from an injury, where he does things like leap over small mountains on his way to robbing home runs:
In the bottom of the fifth inning Saturday night, Rochester Red Wings right fielder Xavier Avery sent a ball flying deep to left field that had all the makings of a dinger -- if only Heathcott hadn't sprinted back, launched himself up into the wall and stuck out his glove to pull it back, thus preserving the 0-0 tie.
That way he slides back down the outfield wall into a sitting position is Heathcott's way of saying to Avery, "hmmmm … NAH."
