Yo ho, yo ho, a Twins' life for me
No, that wasn't the real Jack Sparrow you saw at Target Field on Thursday.
It was Austin, Minn, native Joshua Godfredson, who has impersonated Captain Jack for nine years. It all started out with a Halloween costume that "got a little carried away."
He's since expanded to impersonating Sparrow and "stirring up trouble" at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, museums, corporate events and birthday parties. Godfredson makes his living by being a full-time Jack Sparrow.
He didn't quite understand the concept of baseball, but he left an impression on the members of his section and ballpark goers who caught him on the scoreboard. "You'll never forget the day you met Captain Jack Sparrow," said a prophetic Godfredson. (Okay, we think he might have stolen that from a movie somewhere.)
