Beat the Streak is back for the 2022 season -- and the $5.6 million prize is still up for grabs.

The idea is simple -- pick one player (or two) every day who you think will get a hit. The objective -- surpass Joe DiMaggio's record-long 56-game hitting streak -- is a bit more challenging.

But we are here to help with that. We'll provide BTS leaderboard updates and daily insights on favorable matchups in this space, as well as every weekday on the new “Beat the Streak Daily: Inside the Hits” podcast.

HITTERS TO TARGET TODAY

Michael Harris II, Braves (vs. Rockies)
Harris is one of the top contenders for the NL Rookie of the Year Award -- along with teammate Spencer Strider (more on him below) -- and he's making a serious push for that honor during the stretch. Harris hit .337 in August and finished the month on an eight-game hitting streak. As for the matchup, he'll be going up against Rockies righty Chad Kuhl, who has struggled a bit following a strong start to the season. He has a 7.17 ERA over his past 11 starts -- and that includes a complete-game shutout against the Dodgers in the middle of that stretch. Since that June 27 gem, though, Kuhl has a 9.39 ERA and has allowed opponents to hit .339 with a 1.106 OPS. And even though this game won't take place at Coors Field, Kuhl actually has a higher road ERA (9.87) during that stretch than home ERA (8.78).

José Ramírez, Guardians (vs. Orioles)
Ramírez has notched at least one hit in nine of his past 12 games -- and he's turned in four multihit efforts during that span. Following a two-hit game Wednesday night, he gets a matchup now against Orioles rookie Kyle Bradish. Though Bradish is coming off the best start of his young career, tossing eight scoreless innings Friday against the Astros, that outing only lowered his season ERA to 5.63. That tells you how things had gone over his first 16 starts, so we'll roll the dice on him not having a repeat performance against the Guardians -- though the highly touted prospect certainly has the stuff to pull it off.

OFFENSE(S) TO AVOID

D-backs (vs. Brewers -- Brandon Woodruff)
Woodruff has been his usual dominant self since returning from an early-season injury that sidelined him for most of June. He has a 2.35 ERA and has held opponents to a .208 average in 11 starts since coming off the IL.

Rockies (at Braves -- Spencer Strider)
Strider is one of the top contenders for the NL Rookie of the Year Award -- and for good reason. Atlanta's 23-year-old right-hander is holding opponents to just a .186 average, all while racking up a ridiculous 158 strikeouts in 106 2/3 innings. That's an average of 13.3 strikeouts per nine innings, the best mark in the Majors. As for the Rockies, they may be hitting an MLB-best .286 at home, but that mark drops to just .235 on the road, and this one is being played in Atlanta.
