LeMahieu (triceps) scratched from lineup
DENVER -- The Rockies scratched second baseman DJ LeMahieu from the lineup for Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Phillies due to a triceps injury, suffered when he was hit by a pitch in the first inning of Saturday night's victory.
About 45 minutes before first pitch, the Rockies announced that Alexi Amarista would start at second base.
LeMahieu, the team's regular No. 2 hitter behind Charlie Blackmon, went 0-for-4 Saturday but is hitting .394 over his last 37 games, second in the Majors to the Astros' Jose Altuve during that span. He tweaked the injury during his final at-bat.
"It just didn't feel as good this morning as I thought it would. It felt weak," said LeMahieu, who has Monday's day off to heal further before a two-game set in Cleveland begins Tuesday night. "It'll be fine."
LeMahieu, the defending National League batting champ and an All-Star this year, has overcome a slow offensive start to build a .319 batting average through 105 games. He's hitting .324 with a .387 on-base percentage in 53 games at Coors Field, and hitting .314 with a .387 OBP on the road.
