Play Ball! Minnesota announces youth baseball and softball clinics

April 18th, 2019

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – Play Ball! Minnesota, an initiative of the Minnesota Twins Community Fund, has announced its 2019 Youth Baseball and Softball Clinic Program schedule. The program, presented in partnership with Great River Energy, features 38 baseball and softball clinics in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Created in 1961 by longtime Twins scout Angelo Giuliani and held in collaboration with Minnesota youth organizations, the clinic program serves as a way for Play Ball! Minnesota to promote baseball and softball to boys and girls throughout the Upper Midwest.

The Play Ball! Minnesota Youth Clinics are available to participants and communities free of charge, and are designed to teach boys and girls ages 6-13 the fundamentals of baseball and softball, including hitting, throwing, and defense, in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. Play Ball! Minnesota instructors provide all the necessary equipment for the clinic; however, players should bring their gloves. Participants must register in advance at www.playballmn.com.

“For nearly 60 years, Twins youth clinics have provided baseball and softball instruction to young players in communities throughout Twins Territory,” said Stephanie Johnson, Executive Director of the Twins Community Fund. “We’re proud to continue this tradition for a new generation of ballplayers.”

Since the beginning of the program, more than 800,000 kids have participated in a Twins youth clinic. A complete 2019 Play Ball! Minnesota Youth Clinics schedule is available by visiting www.playballmn.com. Please note that the schedule is subject to change; please check the Play Ball! Minnesota website for the most up-to-date schedule.
