2018 Twins Summer Camps

Short of actually being Byron Buxton or Joe Mauer, Twins Summer Camps sponsored by Select Heartland Chevrolet is as close to the Twins baseball experience as you can get!

From tee-ball to the Major Leagues, baseball is loved throughout Twins Territory, This program serves as a way for the Twins to share their passion with the thousands of players, parents and coaches who love baseball and softball as we do.

Our program's promise is to provide a world-class Twins Baseball Experience that will forever own a page in the memory scrapbook of every boy and girl who joins us. Read on and see why the summer of 2018 could be the best summer ever for your young player.

Camp Philosophy

Camp Culture

Some kids will come to camp having never played ball before, and some will come with dreams of someday playing at Target Field. Regardless of experience and skill level, each player will have the camp experience of a lifetime. We won't settle for anything less.

A great baseball camp contains a recipe of fun, competition, camaraderie, and excellent instruction. On Monday when you meet the camp staff, you will find them full of baseball and softball knowledge and unbridled passion to share with your kids. While being such knowledgeable coaches, our staff really knows how to create a fun and inviting atmosphere. And, of course, kids love friendly competition. That's why, every day, we include fun competitions and award special Twins memorabilia.

The bottom line is that when we mix in one part competition, two parts fun, one part relationship building, and five parts instruction, you have a recipe for magic moments.

Curriculum

It doesn't matter if your athlete is six and picking up a bat for the first time or 14 and is a top-level player, this camp will profoundly improve each player's skills and ability.

At each camp, we use a progressive system of hitting, throwing, and fielding. Depending on how well the groups achieve the various steps in our teaching progression, we will advance the curriculum to match that progress. In addition, we will spend time on position specific skills like pitching, catching, middle infield play, fastpitch pitching and slap hitting and outfield.

Safety, Safety, Safety

How can we have a camp with six-year-olds and 14 year-olds? Look at it this way. A K-8 school does not have second graders and eighth graders in P.E. or math class together. They may pass in the hallways, take the same bus, and be in the same yearbook but they are not in class together. Just like school, at camp, they will be in the same place, but not in "class" together either.

We also recognize that not all players of the same age have equal ability. For safety reasons, and because it facilitates the best learning environment, players will be grouped by age and ability. These teams will then stay together throughout the week with the same coach (e.g. Team Mauer, Team Dozier, Team Buxton, etc.). There will be cross-pollination of instructors but we have found that the bonds created between teammates and their primary coach is one of the truly special dynamics at camp.

And yes, at our instructors' discretion, tennis balls, whiffle balls and safety balls will be used liberally at camp. Of course, we will use regulation baseballs and softballs but fear-free confidence is a critical foundation for fun and learning success.

Travel or Select Team Player? We're Ready for You, Too

There isn't much the Minnesota Twins can't teach you about baseball or softball. The bottom line is that no matter how good you are or how good you want to be, we have a curriculum and instructors who will get you ready for that night's game or next weekend's big tourney.

We understand that travel ballplayers' schedules can be hectic in the summer. We will protect your arm if you are scheduled to pitch and you can take it easy if you've got a game that night. Give us a week and you will improve, no matter your current level of play.

Instruction

Twins Coach to Assist at Camp

Each week we will travel to Target Field for a very special experience that will include spending an amazing time with one of the current Twins coaches.

Instructors

Parents know that when you find a great teacher, you try to keep them for as long as you can! Great teachers can be game changers in our kids' lives, and great baseball and softball coaches are the same.

That's why we carefully select, screen, train and monitor our instructors. Then we encourage them to unleash all the passion and creativity they can muster.

Each camp day for your child should be a masterpiece. These coaches get that, and they love it.

The bottom line, the men and women entrusted with the training of your kids are as good as they come. We promise.

Every instructor will have passed a background check.

Amazing Twins Experience

Try this on for size...

Every camp will have a guest appearance by a current Twins player

Please note: Player to be selected by the Minnesota Twins and may or may not be depicted here.

A current Twins coach will participate in every camp

V.I.P Day Trip to Target Field for a behind-the-scenes experience On one of the five camp days, campers will be bussed to Target Field for a day we are sure they will never forget. Imagine sitting in the dugout just hours before Joe Mauer or Byron Buxton walk out of the tunnel. Or toeing the bullpen rubber shortly before Jose Berrios or Ervin Santana  take the mound. Wow. Campers will take a photo with their camp team and a Twins player in the Twins dugout! Buses will depart Target Field at approximately 2 P.M. to return campers to their camp location.

Every camper will be given a full, MLB quality Twins uniform (jersey, pants, hat and belt)

If you are going to train like a major leaguer, might as well dress like one. The 2018 uniform will be different from the 2017 camp uniform.

Four Twins tickets to one of several Twins Camps Reunion games

Every camper receives a keepsake graduation certificate and camp veterans will receive a special edition iron-on patch celebrating their return to Twins Camp.
