PLAY BALL Weekend
PLAY BALL Weekend in Minnesota takes place June 5-7, with activities all weekend long to encourage youth around Twins Territory to Play Ball! This weekend showcases many baseball and softball players along with the outreach program of the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Twins Community Fund.
The Minnesota Twins Community Fund has provided free youth baseball and softball opportunities to thousands of youths from many different communities across Twins Territory. In a youth sports climate that is becoming increasingly competitive, expensive, and exclusive, we know that it’s all too common for kids to feel isolated, pressured, or anxious while playing sports. But we also know the powerful difference a sense of belonging can make on a young person’s mental, emotional, and social wellbeing.
Recognizing the power of our platform to make youth sports more accessible and enjoyable, the Twins Community Fund is challenging the barriers that keep kids from participating and taking bold steps toward a more inclusive youth sports landscape in our region. For decades—even predating the creation of the Twins Community Fund—we have made a particular priority of supporting young athletes with disabilities through adaptive baseball and softball opportunities. We are making meaningful strides to ensure that every child has individualized instruction, equipment, and safe places to play the games they love and develop their skills in a positive environment, because we firmly believe that baseball and softball are for everyone.
