Carson Spiers named International League Pitcher of the Week
After leading the Louisville Bats to two crucial victories over the Indianapolis Indians, Carson Spiers was named International League Pitcher of the week (May 6-12).
After pitching six scoreless innings on May 7, Spiers returned to the mound on Mother's Day. He gave up just one run on four hits with two walks over six innings and tied a career high with nine strikeouts in a 7-1 win for Louisville. This is Spiers' third honor of his professional career, but the first for a Bats player this season.

Daytona Tortugas – A
In the Tortuga’s 15-4 win on May 10, Malvin Valdez knocked a two-run triple to right-center to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth. Valdez ended the night with two hits and three RBIs.
Dayton Dragons – Advanced-A
Starting pitcher Jared Lyons (2-1) combined with relievers Pedro Alfonseca and Luis Mey for a three-hit shutout on May 12. Lyons struck out six and allowed one hit over six innings against the Lake County Captains.
Chattanooga Lookouts – AA
Ivan Johnson earned the winning run for the Lookouts in extra innings on a wild pitch and throwing error on May 7. Johnson advanced to third on the wild pitch and scored on the error to snap Daytona’s three-game losing streak.
Louisville Bats – AAA
On May 12, starting pitcher Carson Spiers (3-1) earned his second victory of the week. Spiers allowed one unearned run on four hits and tied his career high with nine strikeouts as Louisville routed Indianapolis 7-1. In Spiers' victory earlier in the week (May 7), he allowed no runs on four hits in six innings, once again against Indianapolis.
