The Royals earned the best record in the American League this season thanks to a simple three-part formula: Blazing speed, a lights-out bullpen and some of the best defense in baseball (this apparently extends even to Kansas City fans, papal and otherwise).
So, it was only fitting that their decisive Game 5 win over the Astros in the ALDS was no different. Dominant closer Wade Davis pitched a clean ninth inning to nail down the win. Lorenzo Cain somehow managed to score from first on a single to center. As for the defense? We'll let Alex Gordon provide the answer:
Not to be outdone -- or just wanting to show that he fit in with his new team after being acquired at the Trade Deadline -- Ben Zobrist saw Gordon's sliding catch and raised him some serious hops:
Now, the Royals are heading back to the ALCS. And if these plays are any indication, it's going to produce some pretty sweet bobbleheads.
