A-Rod scored a TD in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium and Rece Davis channeled John Sterling

A-Rod scored a TD in the Pinstripe Bowl (sort of)

Alex Rodriguez is a professional baseball player with 2,719 MLB games under his belt. He's belted 687 home runs over 21 seasons in the bigs, won a World Series in 2009, made 14 All-Star Games and, apparently, morphed into running back for the Indiana University Hoosiers:

That's Alex Rodriguez the running back. Heading into Saturday's Pinstripe Bowl, the red-shirt freshman had accumulated 19 yards on eight career carries, so there was certainly no guarantee that he would touch the rock in the one-off contest at Yankee Stadium. But -- perhaps thinking that A-Rod could share some of that cross-sport good fortune that Derek Jeter's locker brought to Penn State kicker Sam Ficken last year -- Hoosiers head coach Kevin Wilson called his number:

Turns out Wilson was right. The Hoosiers' A-Rod later scored his first career collegiate rushing touchdown:

And, if that wasn't enough of an homage to the Bronx Bombers, ESPN's Rece Davis channeled Yankees broadcaster John Sterling when he called Duke quarterback Thomas Sirk's 71-yard touchdown scamper that came late in the second quarter:

Rodriguez's final line was four carries, 16 yards and the touchdown, but the Blue Devils came out on top, 44-41.

Baseball-themed football is our new favorite football. Who's up for adding a fence and moving the goal line way in for easy scoring out in right field?
