Jeffrey Maier's famous glove was sold for more than $22,000

UPDATE: According to AP via the New York Daily News, on Saturday, the glove was purchased by an anonymous collector for $22,705. Who knows which team's home runs we'll see it deflect next?

Yup, that's right -- the kid who deflected a fly ball into the stands during Game 1 of the Orioles-Yankees 1996 ALCS, turning it into Derek Jeter's famous game-tying home run:

Jeter's homer led to Bernie Williams' game-winner in the 11th inning, and then to a five-game series victory over Baltimore. From there, the Yankees won the first of their four World Series titles in five years.

Clearly this glove has mystic powers, so if you happen to have a lot of disposable income and a great deal of love for the Orioles, maybe you should buy it and throw it in the fires of Mordor before it falls into other postseason-bound hands.
