Carlos Correa takes the field for first time in Astros uniform

After being selected first overall in Monday's First-Year Player Draft, Carlos Correa arrived in Houston on Thursday to sign his Astros contract.

"I want to play baseball, I want to play for the Houston Astros," Correa said. "I don't want to lose time. I feel comfortable signing early."

Following his press conference, Correa was escorted into the clubhouse where he changed into Astros gear. Correa followed Jed Lowrie, Houston's current shortstop, through batting practice and was then congratulated by some of his future teammates.

After taking a few grounders at short, Correa took swings in the batting cage amidst a flurry of media.

"I'm just happy to be an Astro right now," he said. "I just want to get to the big-league level the quickest I can. I want to be a leader. I want to be the face of the franchise."
