Collin McHugh falls off mound while pitching, still throws strike, gets the out

McHugh falls off mound, still somehow throws strike

Hitters looking at Collin McHugh's scouting report will see that he has a fastball, slider, changeup and curveball. Pretty normal stuff. Nothing they haven't seen before.

But during Thursday's Rays-Astros game, McHugh broke out his whoops-I'm-falling-off-the-mound-but-I'm-still-gonna-throw-a-strike:

It's a great addition to the right-hander's repertoire. Something he can hopefully start throwing on a regular basis. After the game, McHugh talked to's Chandler Rome about it:

"I caught that cleat on that one pitch and threw a ball like 40 something miles an hour or so. That's a new one. I'll have to start working that one in."

McHugh also made a fantastic behind-the-back snag on a James Loney grounder in the fourth inning:

Unfortunately, Chris Archer and the Rays shut out Houston, 1-0.
