Bob Costas makes call to the bullpen, hands Olympic duties to Matt Lauer
Noted Ludacris-lyricizing broadcaster Bob Costas has been the victim of a violent eye infection during his coverage of this year's Winter Olympics. Neither glasses nor consumption of liquid Russian culture have seemed to quell the irritation. So on Tuesday, Costas picked up his dugout phone and signaled for reliever Matt Lauer:
"I was trying to throw a complete game here, but I think we're going to have to go to the bullpen," Costas said on the Today Show. "I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but you're Mariano Rivera. At least for tonight."
