It seems congratulations are in order, because Yankees icon Derek Jeter -- he of 3,465 career hits, five World Series championships and 14 All-Star Game appearances -- is engaged to marry model Hannah Davis.

Amid speculation that the Captain and Davis had decided to tie the knot, the founding publisher of The Players' Tribune authored a blog post about his dog, Kane. In said blog post, he revealed a number of juicy factoids about his personal life:

- Jeter had never owned a pet in his life

- He used to be afraid of dogs because he saw the movie "Cujo"

- Davis grew up around Mastiffs, so she got one for the Captain for Christmas last year

- And, oh yeah, she's his fiancée now

"I had no idea what I was in for as a new dog owner. He was a Christmas gift last year from my fiancée, whose family had Mastiffs growing up. I've never owned a pet in my life."

Pretty subtle as far as wedding announcements go. He didn't even let us know where they're registered. How are we supposed to know which cookware set to get them?
