Former Lafayette quarterback Joe Maddon watches alma mater at Yankee Stadium

Joe Maddon watches alma mater at Yankee Stadium

The baseball offseason is a strange time for everyone -- managers included. It's a time for developing and embracing secondary interests. For some, that could be taking guitar lessons or traveling the world. New Cubs manager Joe Maddon took advantage of the time off to see his alma mater, the Lafayette College Leopards, play the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks in a college football matchup.

But this wasn't your run-of-the-mill rivalry game, this was the 150th meeting between the two teams -- and it took place at a sold-out Yankee Stadium. Turns out that Maddon, a former quarterback for Lafayette (completing 14 of 17 passes with four touchdowns in his one start against Lehigh) was a good luck charm for the reigning Patriot League champions.

Lafayette went on to win 27-7 behind Ross Scheuerman's 304 rushing yards to take a 78-67-5 lead in the lifetime series.
