Fresno Grizzlies create pizza hot dog monster! This week in Minor League Baseball promotions

Fresno Grizzlies create pizza hot dog monster!

There are three certainties in life: death, taxes and most importantly, Minor League promotions. MiLB.com's Ben Hill has the inside scoop on the last of those certainties, and he'll be sharing a taste with us and you each and every week. Check out a unique upcoming promo below and read his full recap of the week's best promotions right here. You can follow Ben on Twitter @Bensbiz.

The Fresno Grizzlies have created a monster.

On Thursday, the Grizzlies -- Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros -- unveil the unprecedented culinary combination that is the Frankenslice. Pizza, meet hot dog. Hot dog, meet pizza. It really is as simple as that.

"The idea for the Frankenslice comes from [Grizzlies director of marketing] Sam Hansen, who was trying to pair something with our Halfway to Halloween promotion," said Grizzlies communication manager Ryan Young. "Enter a certain food vendor. … We call him the Bobby Flay of the ballpark [his real name is Justin Dukes]. He has a smoker and peach wood that he cooks everything over it. From tri-tip to the Frankenslice, he's down to cook it."

The below photo highlights a "test kitchen" version of the Frankenslice. Dukes, a concession kiosk Dr. Frankenstein, will be tinkering with his unholy creation over the coming days before unveiling it to the Chukchansi Park masses. It's alive!

The Frankenslice is just one small component of the Grizzlies "Halfway to Halloween" promotion, which is highlighted by a zombie-themed haunted house at the ballpark. It was designed by Fresno-area horror impresarios, in conjunction with an upcoming "Mud 'n' Blood 5K Zombie Run" taking place at nearby Hobb's Grove on May 31. The Haunted House will be open to fans on both Thursday and Saturday. Young says that Thursday will be a "party" atmosphere -- there are beer specials -- while Saturday's iteration will be more family-oriented and, thus, feature a reduced amount of "zombie gore."

Clearly, this attraction is not for the faint of heart (or stomach, if one has just consumed a Frankenslice).
