Minor League catcher tries to throw to third, nails batter in stomach instead

Minor League catcher accidentally nails batter in gut

No batter ever wants to get hit by a pitch, but it's not a total surprise when it happens. After all, said batter is standing in the path of a projectile being hurled at many, many miles per hour. But getting hit from the other side of the plate? That's kind of a sneak attack.

Pawtucket Red Sox catcher Humberto Quintero was just trying to throw a runner out at third when his arm hit something unexpected. It turned out to be Durham Bulls batter Luke Maile's stomach:

whoops

However, Maile is also a catcher, so Quintero might want to look both ways the next time he's up at the plate.
