It's Wilmer Flores' birthday, so let's relive the triumphant craziness of his last seven days

As Wilmer Flores turns 24, recapping his wild week

Things have been pretty crazy recently for Wilmer Flores -- he's laughed, he's cried, he's hit magical walk-off dingers, all as the Mets have won eight of 10 and five in a row to take the outright lead in the NL East. But today is Wilmer's 24th birthday, and really, no one likes working on their birthday. It's a time for reflection/cake/mostly cake, and in that spirit, let's take a look back at the wild week that was for the New York shortstop.

It all started last Wednesday, when swirling trade rumors brought him to tears on the field at the thought of leaving the Mets:

But after surviving the non-waiver Trade Deadline and the Citi Field tarp monster, Flores was still in Queens as the Mets opened play against the division-leading Nationals. The locals were happy to have him around:

They'd be even happier later that night, when Wilmer -- having already driven in a run earlier in the game -- decided to send everybody home in dramatic fashion:

Flores almost went deep again the next night, and since then, he and the Mets have been on a roll -- Flores has slugged .522 over the last seven days, as New York completed the sweep of Washington and took the first two of a series against the Marlins in Miami.

So happy birthday, Wilmer, and seriously, kick your feet up for a second. We know you've got quite a knack for momentous occasions on your birthday, and we can't wait to see what you come up with this year.
