Aaron Hicks singles after pitcher plays soccer
After being called up to the Twins last week, outfielder Aaron Hicks has seven hits in seven games. The seventh came during the eighth inning of Tuesday night's 8-5 win over the Pirates, when reliever Jared Hughes seemed to have momentarily hallucinated that he was playing soccer.
Nabbing the speedy Hicks at first would've been a tough play regardless for Hughes, but accidentally sending the ball flying into foul territory with his toe certainly did him no favors. Just look at the agony on his face:
Hey, at least catcher Chris Stewart played a bit of goalie and reached the ball in time to keep Hicks from rounding toward second.
