Sixth-inning Little League rally ends with rundown
The Southern California Little League team earned itself a trip to Williamsport on Saturday night, besting Hawaii in the West Regional. All it had to do was score 12 runs, and weather a six-run sixth-inning rally that ended on a wild-throw-turned-rundown.

After trailing 12-4 heading into the sixth inning, Hawaii nearly came all the way back, finding itself down just two runs with one out left in the game. And then Southern Cal's pitcher bobbled a comebacker and threw it wide to first, the ball sailing deep into foul territory. But just as the Hawaii runner was headed for home, the ball made it back to the catcher, initiating a rundown. It was a valiant effort, but after a few back-and-forths between third and home -- ballgame.
