Mickey Mantle's bat (maybe his first) could fetch $200,000 at an auction

Mantle's bat could fetch $200,000 at auction

Mickey Mantle won three MVP awards, hit 536 home runs and slashed at a .298/.421/.557 mark during his 18-year Hall of Fame career. His last season in the Majors was 1968.

But what if you could go back? What if you could get your hands on one of the Mick's first professional bats? Well, this April, you might be able to.

A bat, that was apparently ordered during his September callup in 1950 (he didn't make his official debut until '51), will go up for sale in an online auction this spring. Mantle's script signature is on the barrel and according to an auction house official, "It's safe to call it his first professional bat."

Bids are looking like they'll fall in the $200,000 range, so your car, house and Christmas gift-giving for the next 10 years may have to go. The Yankees center fielder's 1952 game-worn jersey will also be up for sale ... for what could end up being a cool $300,000.
