Mike Trout rings in birthday with home run, outfield assist ... and a cracked egg on his head

Trout celebrates b-day with egg cracked on his head

At some point, we're going to have to stop writing about the things Mike Trout does well. After all, we don't write about the vast emptiness of space, we write about the stars and planets -- even though they make up such a small percentage of the cosmos.

It's like that with Trout, whose good performances continue to far outpace the bad ones. Like on Friday, as he turned only 24 years old, Trout homered for the third time on his birthday. This coming just a few weeks after homering twice on his mother's birthday. Basically, the dude is setting the bar really high for birthday presents.

According to Statcast™, the ball flew off his bat at nearly 105 mph and landed 422.91 feet away from home plate.

Two innings later, Trout easily threw out Adam Jones at second base. Oh yeah, and if you were wondering, this was an 81.8 mph toss.

While some would say that Trout's perfromance was simply because of how talented he is, that's obviously wrong. Others would point out the inspired signs in the crowd. Seriously, take down that boring old Mona Lisa and hang this:

That's also wrong.

It's obviously due to the pregame birthday treat that the reigning AL and All-Star MVP received. Rather than a cake, Albert Pujols gave Trout a sort of a modern deconstruction of a cake ... in the form of powder and an egg being cracked atop his head. Thankfully, Kole Calhoun was there to capture the footage:

Given how superstitious baseball players are, I wouldn't be shocked if Trout is begging for Pujols to crack an egg over his head before every game now.
