New York Rangers troll Hunter Pence before Giants see Blues game in St. Louis

NHL Rangers troll Hunter Pence before St. Louis game

You might have been under the impression that the only overlap between the hockey and baseball communities was that time that Benny the Jet was also Luis Mendoza. Remember, "Heroes get remembered, but DUCKS FLY TOGETHER!"

Turns out that the intersection in the Hockey-Baseball Venn diagram is a lot larger than you might have otherwise suspected. Take Giants second baseman Joe Panik, for instance.

Panik's a New York native who graduated from John Jay High School and then attended St. John's University in Queens. In case you were wondering, that makes Panik a big New York Rangers fan.

With the NHL season just getting started, the Rangers were on the road to take on the Blues ... in St. Louis ... where Panik happens to be getting ready for Game 1 of the NLCS. When the Rangers caught wind of the fact that Panik and some of the Giants might turn out to Scottrade Center for the game, the team took to Twitter to troll Hunter Pence the only way they knew how -- with a #HunterPenceSign.

For what it's worth, the Giants weren't the only NLCS team with a rooting interest at the Scottrade Center. Yadier Molina and some of the Cardinals made an appearance on the game broadcast.

The Giants are probably hoping that the outcome of the game is an omen of some sort because Panik's Rangers beat the Blues 3-2. As if you didn't already have an alert set, Game 1 of the NLCS is Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m ET.
