Not a #WaybackWednesday: Barry Zito pitched against Freddy Garcia in a Minor League game

Barry Zito pitches against Freddy Garcia in Minors

No, you did not take some sort of hot tub time machine back to the early-2000s. Although, that would've been fun, especially if it was with Craig Robinson.

The 36-year-old Barry Zito actually faced off against the 38-year old Freddy Garcia in a Triple-A game on Wednesday night. Zito was pitching for the the Nashville Sounds (A's), while Garcia toed the rubber for the Oklahoma City Dodgers (Dodgers, naturally). Even though both were in the Majors for nearly the same time period (2000-2013, Garcia came up in '99), they had never faced each other. Funny that it ended up happening in Oklahoma City ... in the year 2015.

Oklahoma City ended up getting the win and Zito (5 2/3 IP, 4 ER, 5 K) and Garcia (2 IP, 5 ER, 3 K) recorded no-decisions.

STILL, if you were in attendance, that's 321 wins, five All-Star Games, three World Series rings and a Cy Young Award. That is one smooth stat line. Coincidentally, that's also the title of the song that won Record of the Year in 2000 (the first year they appeared in the Majors together). Hopefully they both used it as their walkout song.
