At Fenway, even the bowling pins have beards
The beard epidemic in Boston is serious, and it is spreading. It's no longer confined to Red Sox players or human fans -- it's moved on to gigantic walking bowling equipment. We ran into this pin at Fenway Park on Saturday, and the man inside described his getup (which was a promotion for a very lucky bowling alley) this way:
"I think this is the first bowling pin in history to ever have a beard. I don't think it's ever been done before. We're blazing trails here, we're setting the new standard. Just this pin. The only one in America to have a beard."
And was any particular player an inspiration? "I think it's cumulative of Gomes and Napoli and all the guys."
