Reds Authentics making waves in debut campaign

Reds Authentics is in just its first season at Great American Ball Park, yet Jon Cline is already seeing results. MLB.com Real-time Correspondent Dave Lubich sat down with the manager to talk shop, if you will.

DL: Why is Reds Authentics so unique?
JC: We are offering game-used and autographed memorabilia to Redsfans to generate money for the Reds Community Fund and its upcoming Urban Youth Academy. All net proceeds from Reds Authentics go to the Reds Community Fund. Reds Authentics' goal is also to help preserve the history of this franchise through the Reds Hall of Fame by collecting game-used items tied to significant happenings in Reds history.

How has the fan response been in the first season?
Incredible response. They are excited. They think it’s a neat addition to the game experience here at Great American Ball Park.

What are your goals for the upcoming series with Detroit?
Huge draw this weekend for the Friday and Saturday games, so we’re hoping for big-time results and unique stuff for Interleague Play. Interleague Play offers things you normally don’t get because we don’t see these teams every year. Justin Verlander pitches Saturday, so we will be able to offer game-used balls from his start. We are also offering game-used bases for each game of the series.

What are your goals as we move forward in the season?
We want to be able to offer more. The biggest thing, though, is to continue to spread our name and our mission in correlation with the Reds Community Fund and their community endeavors.

What has been your best selling item or items?
I think from a night-to-night basis, our game-used balls and autographed balls are our best-selling items.

Finish the sentence: In five years, Reds Authentics will be …
In five years, we think we will be the top Authentics program in Major League Baseball, providing a unique experience for all fans that come to Great American Ball Park.
