The ballad of a Tampa Bay ballboy: Two foul ball bobbles redeemed by an amazing catch

Rays ballboy misses two foul balls but catches a third

In a world where the Rays bullpen and foul balls collide, a hero will rise. That hero ... is RJ the ballboy. Coming to a ballpark near you, a classic tale of redemption:

Act I: RJ fails to scoop up a hard grounder in the fifth inning. The foul ball wreaks havoc in the bullpen, smacking Brandon Gomes in the chest and chin, Cesar Ramos in the forearm and Fernando Rodney in the leg.

Adding insult to injury injuries, RJ bobbles the ball again when Rodney tosses it back to him.

Act II: The bottom of the sixth sees another foul ball headed for the Rays bullpen. This time, the pitchers scatter -- a vote of no confidence. RJ bungles the catch again.

Ballboy

Failure. Rock bottom. The dark night of the soul.

Act III: Just when all seemed lost, a third foul ball finds its way down the right field line. RJ is ready. The ballboy pulls off a slick grab, earning a standing ovation and a high-five from Joel Peralta.

And they all lived happily ever after.
