Tracy McGrady strikes out batter in All-Star Game, promptly retires

Tracy McGrady plays in All-Star Game, then retires

Ever since T-Mac first announced he'd be joining the independent Sugar Land Skeeters in February, fans have let their imaginations run wild. Would he get a chance to face another former NBA'er, Mark Hendrickson, when the Skeeters visit the York Revolution? Could he somehow get to the Minors and pitch to Manny Ramirez? Is this how baseketball finally gets started?

Sorry to dash your dreams, T-Mac baseball fans. But after starting Wednesday's Atlantic League All-Star Game and recording his first career strikeout, the 35-year-old is saying goodbye to the game.

"It has been a tremendous ride," McGrady told CBS.com. "It is my last game today. I informed the team this would be my last outing and I appreciate them giving me this opportunity to start the game and enjoy this great mid-summers classic."

McGrady pitched in four regular season games for the Skeeters, allowing four hits and five runs over 6 2/3 innings.
