After his mother sang the National Anthem, Andrew McCutchen hit a home run

Petrina McCutchen, Andrew's mom, has a heck of a voice. She sang the National Anthem before a Pirates-Diamondbacks game last August, and did such a great job that the team invited her back to sing before Pirates took on the Marlins on Wednesday.

After her awesome performance, McCutchen's mom shared just how privileged she felt to get to sing before her son's game, saying, "Singing is what I do. I'm not a novice at it. I enjoy it. Just the fact that it's here in Pittsburgh, to see my son play and to get this opportunity, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I'm glad they invited me."

Cutch was happy to have her there:

"It's always great to watch her go out and perform," he said. "Every day is always new and it's always great to be able to hear her just show her gift."

He didn't just talk about how happy he was -- he showed it, launching a home run off Marlins pitcher Tom Koehler in the bottom of the fourth inning.

All in all, it wasn't a bad night to be a McCutchen.
