Mets broadcasters get mixed up, confuse a cat for a dog

Mets broadcasters confuse a cat for a dog

Being a baseball broadcaster is hard. Not only do you have to pay attention to every play on the field and be able to speak intelligently about the events that transpire, you also need to have a firm grasp of the various genus and species in the animal kingdom. On Tuesday night, the Mets broadcasters struggled with that last requirement.

After showing a fan photo of a cat wearing a Mets cap, the feline looking positively thrilled to be used as a model, Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez struggled valiantly to categorize the animal. Eventually Hernandez gave up, admitting that "whatever it is, it's cute."

After asking for the photo to be put back on screen, the duo agreed that it was either a cat ... or a fox ... or a badger. Which is fine -- as long as they stick to covering baseball and don't go looking to host their own program on Animal Planet.
