Yankee Stadium grounds crew fights epic battle with tarp

A rain delay interrupted Monday's Royals-Yankees game in the fourth inning. It was then that an otherwise routine procedure for the Yankee Stadium grounds crew turned into a legendary conflict between man and polyethylene.

As precipitation accumulated on the tarp, it grew heavier and heavier -- until it became utterly impossible to roll out. To make matters worse, a gust of wind caused the tarp to balloon upwards, reminding us of our favorite day in elementary school gym class.

Eventually, the groundskeepers were able to fix the tarp in place over the infield, thanks in part to the valiant efforts of Yankees VP of Stadium Operations Doug Behar -- who ran out of the dugout in a dress shirt and khakis.
