Yoenis Cespedes threw out two Angels ... at home plate ... in the same inning
They say you shouldn't make the first or last out at home plate. Well, Athletics outfielder Yoenis Cespedes is doing his part to get that adage edited to, "DEFINITELY don't make the first AND third outs at home during the same inning by testing the same guy's arm."
The A's were taking on the Angels on Saturday when their AL West rival was threatening early. Luckily for Oakland, though, Cespedes has a cannon and the Angels didn't exactly learn from their early mistake. Chris Iannetta decided to test Cespedes' skills, trying to score from second on a Collin Cowgill single. That didn't exactly work out in the Angels' favor ...
Then, just two batters later, Kole Calhoun didn't heed the lesson his teammate tried to teach. Calhoun tried to score from second on a Grant Green single and learned the hard way that the first play at the plate was no fluke.
