Labor Day weekend & ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball: Ballpark Buzz for Phillies-Mets Series, Aug. 30-Sept. 1

Division rival New York Mets are in town during the final series of the Phillies homestand starting on Friday, August 30 to Sunday, September 1. Here’s a look at some of the highlights:

1.Friday’s 7:05 p.m. game features a pet toy and blanket drive, adoptable pets and more at the Phillies’ sold-out Bark at the Park, benefiting the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society** (PAWS**). Plus, it’s Salute to Champions Night and Philadelphia SWAT Officer Jaison Potts will be honored as a Rothman Hometown Hero.
• Stop by the "break area" behind sections 210/211 to help save pets in need. Fans can meet adoptable puppies, receive PAWS information and stop by the Embark Montco/Valley Forge Tourism tent to learn about pet friendly hotels and receive special dog gifts! At the First Base Gate, fans are invited to donate pet items from the following “wish list” to PAWS: bleach, laundry detergent, paper towels, trash bags (heavy duty/contractor only), bath towels and fleece blankets, canned dog, cat and kitten food (no dry food).
• Some more four-legged fun: be on the lookout for 350+ dogs and their human friends, who will be attending the sold-out Phillies Bark at the Park.
• Also happening, the Phillies will honor local softball and baseball teams that have reached their state championships and above. Congratulations to the following teams, who will be recognized on-field pregame:

• During the game, Philadelphia SWAT Officer Jaison Potts, 21-year veteran of the force, will be honored as the Rothman Hometown Hero and change a base in the third inning. Officer Potts survived fatal injuries in the line of duty in August 2018.

2. Prior to Saturday’s 4:05 p.m. game, hang out with Mickey Morandini at Bud & Burger Night. Plus, enjoy post-game entertainment at Pass and Stow!
• Meet 1993 National League Champion Mickey Morandini, 2:30-3:45 p.m., and enjoy specials on Budweiser and burgers at Boardwalk Eats in the Left Field Plaza.
• After the game, enjoy music by DJ Nate at Pass and Stow, adjacent to the Third Base Plaza.
• Traffic advisory: There is a Temple University football game at Lincoln Financial Field starting at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Please be aware that some parking lots may be unavailable or fill quicker than normal. Fans are encouraged to plan ahead and seek alternate areas to park if your usual lot of choice is full. 3. On Sunday, all kids 14 and under will receive a Back-to-School Backpack courtesy of Fante's Plumbing, Heating & Air at the 7:05 p.m. ESPN Sunday Night Baseball game.
• Come cheer on the Phillies during this nationally-broadcast game featuring ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball Team of Matt Vasgersian, Jessica Mendoza, Alex Rodriguez and Buster Olney.

Other need-to-know information:
Gate Openings: Main gates open 1½ hours prior to game time. Ashburn Alley and a portion of the Third Base Gate granting access to Pass and Stow open 2 hours before every game. The entrance to Ashburn Alley is the Left Field Gate.
Parking Lot Openings: All parking lots open 5 hours prior to game time.
Broadcast Information: The game on Friday, August 30 will be broadcast on NBC10; Saturday, August 31 will be broadcast on NBCSP and FS1 and Sunday, September 1 will be broadcast on ESPN. Games will also be broadcast on WIP (94.1 FM) and on WTTM (1680 AM – Spanish) and are available via live stream for authenticated subscribers on NBC Sports Philadelphia’s MyTeams app.
